In 2010, The Hunting of the Earl of Rone will, as tradition demands, take place over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend, commencing  on Friday 28th May.  The Party will assemble at Kiln Car Park - near the beach - leaving at about 7.00p.m., to make its way up the village as far as the Health Centre before returning to The Stable at The Castle Inn.

The Children's Day is Saturday, and the Junior Party will be starting from the Primary School at 11.00 a.m., making its way to the beach before processing up the village, taking lunch at the Pack O' Cards on the way, and eventually returning from Wet Lane to the Stable.

The Senior Party will again be out on the Sunday afternoon.  Starting from Sandaway Holiday Park, out on the Ilfracombe Road,  at  1.30 p.m., the procession arrives at the beach at about 2.00 p.m.  After leaving the beach, the party may partake of brief refreshments at the Foc's'le before making its way up the village, often on back ways, eventually returning to the Stable.

The eventual capture and final procession, assuming the Earl is in fact found after all this effort, is on Monday 31st May. The hunting party will be heading off up Wood Lane, at the top of the village, to Lady's Wood, at approximately 5.45 p.m. - the best place for spectators to view the start of proceedings is to join the company at the bottom of Holdstone Way - and will be met by the Hobby Horse and Fool when they (hopefully) return to the main road. With a refreshment break at the Pack O' Cards, the Party will reach the beach at sunset, and once again commit the Earl to the seas until another year.
